Reviews Wacaco PicoPresso + hard case

Almost everything has already been written in the reviews about this coffee machine, so after about 100 cups of experimentation I will add a few observations:

1) a quality grinder is the alpha omega (I myself use the J-Ultra from 1Zpresso)
2) Preheating is necessary (cups, strainers, shower screen) - ideally before grinding coffee pour hot water into the container (without this the coffee is lukewarm from my point of view, Flair 2 Pro users will understand me)
3) Preinfusion is not an empty word - exactly after 8-9 presses I leave a 5-10 sec pause - I noticed that then the coffee flows better (channeling)
4) I bought a 12g strainer, from 18g the espresso is already 1:2 strong and you can enjoy several cups a day: ). If you make coffee from 12g with a 12g strainer, be prepared that the coffee can easily fall over, you need to be careful when brewing. I also use a better needle distributor from WDT - highly recommended (the original one is just a piece of wire).
If you pick up all the nuances, I dare say you will make a cafe quality espresso (rather better than the average cafe).

Excellent, if you want to savour a coffee, this gadget should not be missing from your arsenal! I'm very happy with my purchase, especially as the materials are getting better and better, I would have preferred the lid of the water compartment to be made of aluminium, especially the thread that wears over time.

I just bought my Picopresso from EKOcapsule 2 years ago, I use it daily, I am very satisfied with it. I use it with a Kingrinder grinder, with care it is consistent and makes very tasty coffee. With daily coffee drinking, it is worth descaling every 2 months max, the seal under the pump will give itself every 8-10 months, which can be ordered from the manufacturer for 1 USD. It is assembled with quality parts and has not required any other maintenance.

Absolutely brilliant device.

I got such a machine because I didn't want to worry about the maintenance of an espresso machine (gaggia classic+mod) and honestly I made a great choice. I think for someone who doesn't make espresso every day it's great(I do more on dripper). Great flavour if you get the "grind size" right and a proper tamp. I still think you need to invest in a puck screen and maybe that straight walled basket from IMS.

If you have the patience and time, the espresso from this crumb tastes incredible. With any coffee, it takes a bit of experimentation (coarseness of grind, grammage...), but once you fine tune it, it tastes even better than some coffee shops. The feeling when, after a few failed attempts, you actually manage to make THAT espresso is priceless.

Given that there is an option to upgrade some of the components for the picopresso (basket, buying a puck screen, kitchen stand,...), it's probably the cheapest option to get a handheld machine for real espresso at home.

Portability is debatable. Don't get me wrong, the design is perfect for portability. Everything can be packed into the coffee maker itself. However, you still have to bring that coffee (ideally in the bean), a grinder, a scale doesn't hurt, and then you have to figure out how to boil your water. Then you need to wash the components well after each use. This stuff then all gets swept up and takes up space in your backpack. In the outdoors it can be a bit of a nuisance, but in the kitchen it's perfect.
