In the past, we have received questions about whether the plastic used in our refillable capsules is safe for health, that is, whether it does not release chemicals into the coffee in unacceptable amounts.
Despite the fact that the manufacturer guarantees us the so-called "BPA free" material, we had the capsules professionally tested in the chemical laboratory Geolab sro. Water heated to a temperature of 80 °C (standard coffee temperature) passed through a plastic refillable capsule was tested for the content of 18 chemicals that are released from plastics (of any kind) into the water.
It is essential that the substances in question are not released into the water in greater quantities than specified by the relevant standards (NR SR No. 354/2006). The test showed that the tested substances are released into the water in minimal quantities, in some cases up to 400 times less than specified by the standard.
Test result: Yes, our refillable capsules are safe for health. See the attached test report and measured values below.
Explanations : The parameter is the tested substance. NR SR No. 354/2006 Coll. determines the maximum permissible value of the given substance in water. The symbol PV is the measured value.

Other products in our offer from the brand SEALPOD contain a capsule made of stainless steel as a base. For them, a similar test is irrelevant, as no chemicals are released into the water from the stainless steel.
