Description

The Timemore Autospin is an automatic WDT tool designed to distribute coffee evenly in a 58 mm basket. Twelve fine needles with a diameter of 0.3 mm move along a precisely defined planetary path, rotating alternately in both directions. This helps to break up clumps and distribute the coffee more evenly before tamping.

Its four-point design centres it and keeps it in a horizontal position above a compatible basket. Autospin is designed for users who want to simplify puck preparation and achieve more consistent results when making espresso.

 

TIMEMORE Autospin is designed exclusively for 58 mm flat-sided portafilters. It is not compatible with rounded or tapered baskets, as the four-point support may not sit correctly on them, meaning the tool may not remain horizontal. Autospin is not suitable for three-prong portafilters.

Key features of the Timemore Autispin WDT tool:

  • Automatic WDT distribution – the duty cycle starts when the tool is placed on Portafilter and stops when it is lifted. The tool can also complete the duty cycle automatically.
  • 12 fine WDT needles – the 0.3 mm diameter needles break up coffee clumps and distribute the ground coffee throughout the entire basket.
  • Planetary motion – a precisely defined path ensures the entire coffee bed is covered without the need for manual stirring.
  • Bidirectional rotation – alternating clockwise and anti-clockwise movement helps to minimise the coffee shifting towards the edges of the basket.
  • Working depth 22 mm – the needles penetrate deep into the layer of ground coffee and their working depth can be adjusted to suit the specific basket.
  • Four-point support – the wide design helps to centre the tool and keep it level above the 58 mm basket. The support legs also protect the needles when the tool is placed on the work surface.
  • Compatibility with flat 58 mm baskets – the tool is designed for 58 mm baskets with flat sides. It is not compatible with baskets with rounded walls or three-pronged portafilters.
  • Lifespan of over 2,000 cycles – according to the manufacturer, the built-in 500 mAh lithium battery can handle more than 2,000 duty cycles on a single charge.
  • Charging via USB-C – a full charge takes approximately 1.5 hours. The charging cable is not included in the pack.
  • LED indicator – an orange light indicates charging, whilst a white light indicates the device is switched on or charging is complete.
  • Open-top design – allows you to observe the movement of the dispensing mechanism during the duty cycle. Do not pour coffee into the open top section.
  • Spare needles included – the manufacturer supplies six replacement WDT needles.

TIMEMORE Autospin is ideal for home baristas and espresso bars looking to automate coffee distribution before tamping. Its main advantages are the repeatable planetary motion of twelve fine needles, automatic start-up and long battery life. Before purchasing, it is necessary to check the shape of the 58 mm portafilter basket and the type of portafilter, as compatibility is not universal.
