Description

The Varia AKU PRO is a professional barista scale designed for both espresso and filter coffee. It features a large weighing platform, a full-colour TFT display and two selectable weighing ranges: 0.01 g readability up to 1,000 g or 0.05 g readability up to 2,000 g. Its low profile allows it to fit beneath a cup on an espresso machine drip tray, while the 130 × 110 mm platform provides enough room for pour-over brewers and servers.

In addition to manual operation, the scale offers automatic taring, automatic timer activation, real-time flow-rate measurement and dedicated AKU Spro and AKU Flow modes for espresso and pour-over. Bluetooth enables connectivity with selected third-party apps and supports firmware updates. Its aluminium-alloy body with a silicone pad has an IPX6 water-resistance rating.

  • Two weighing ranges – users can select a capacity of up to 1,000 g with 0.01 g readability or up to 2,000 g with 0.05 g readability, depending on the required capacity and resolution.
  • Large weighing platform – the 130 × 110 mm surface provides stable support for espresso cups, portafilters, drippers and coffee servers.
  • Six operating modes – the scale provides a fully manual mode, three combinations of automatic taring and timing, AKU Spro mode and AKU Flow mode.
  • AKU Flow mode – the pour-over mode tracks the coffee dose, water quantity, brewing time, flow rate and current coffee-to-water ratio.
  • AKU Spro mode – the espresso mode displays the coffee dose, espresso yield, time, flow rate and espresso ratio on a single screen.
  • Real-time flow rate – the scale can display the current flow rate while pouring or extracting; this function can be enabled or disabled in the settings.
  • Full-colour TFT display – colour-coded data makes it easier to monitor weight, time, flow rate, dose and the coffee-to-water ratio. The colour of each displayed metric can be customised.
  • Automatic tare and timer – selected modes automatically tare the vessel and start the timer when water flow is detected or after a configured delay.
  • Bluetooth connectivity – enables connection to selected third-party apps, including Pressensor and Beanconqueror, and supports firmware updates.
  • IPX6 water resistance – the scale is protected against water jets from different directions, making it suitable for use around an espresso machine. It must not be submerged in water.
  • Rechargeable battery – the integrated 3.7 V, 2,000 mAh lithium-polymer battery provides up to 10 hours of continuous operation according to the manufacturer and charges via USB-C.
  • Customisable settings – screen brightness, volume, units, flow-rate display, timer delay and automatic shut-off can all be adjusted.
  • Calibration with a 100 g weight – the included calibration weight allows users to check and restore the scale’s correct measurement regularly.

The Varia AKU PRO is well suited to home baristas and professionals who prepare both espresso and pour-over on one scale and want to monitor more than weight and time alone.
